Apprenticeship Program

The Apprenticeship Program is an intense, individualized, 3 month program designed to help you set and achieve your horsemanship goals whether they be recreational, performance, or professional.

The curriculum is primarily based on the proven methodology taught in the John & Josh Lyons Certification Program. However you will also gain exposure to other Natural Horsemanship methods. Beyond horse training instruction the program can offer insight on how to set up clinics, develop offerings, and market your business.

Like the Foundation Program, this program is designed to not only teach training techniques and tools, but a framework and mindset for working with horses. Where the Foundation Program teaches you how to maintain the improvements James makes in your horse, the Apprenticeship program teaches you how to make the improvements on your own. Exercises alone don't effectively train horses. You will learn how to group exercises to form effective training programs and the subtle tips and tricks top professional trainers use to teach horses and people. Each participant will receive a skills map in their Apprenticeship binder where they can track their progress through the curriculum.

Session time will be held at James' horsemanship facility in Bradenton, Florida. There will be up to 15 core curriculum teaching sessions over the course of the 3 month program. In addition to the core curriculum sessions, participants are invited to spend up to 10 days a month studying onsite at James' facility. During the optional onsite study time, beyond receiving James help training their own horses, participants may have the opportunity to observe and help James train other horses, audit or help teach clinics, and watch James teach Foundation Program particpants. Apprentices also have free access to any of James' clinics.

When not at James' facility there is a home study component with continuous phone and email support between sessions.
